3D Artist (Character) | Full Time Remote (UK-based)

About us

Psytec Games is a games studio with a passion for VR. We’ve been making VR games for 10 years and are looking for a new 3D Artist, specialising in Characters, to join our growing team. Our games are designed to foster collaborative, immersive experiences, where players are not just entertained but deeply engaged. We believe in crafting experiences that are both fun and challenging, pushing the boundaries of what VR gaming can achieve.

At Psytec Games, we pride ourselves on creating best-in-class games that have garnered an avid fanbase, and we have ambitious plans for further games beyond our next VR release slated for 2025.


  • Create high-quality 3D Character assets for VR games.

  • Generate textures and materials to bring assets to life within the game engine.

  • Collaborate with the Art Director and other artists to ensure that all assets meet the required quality standards and are optimized for performance.

  • Work with programmers to implement assets into the game engine.

  • Assist in creation of 3D prop and environment assets as needed.

  • Optimize 3D assets for performance on target platforms without sacrificing visual quality.

  • Maintain and improve asset pipelines and workflows to increase efficiency and quality.

  • Participate in art reviews and provide constructive feedback to other artists.



  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max.

  • Proficiency in character rigging and skinning, including creating efficient and deformable rigs suitable for animation.

  • Strong understanding of texture creation and material generation.

  • Demonstrable skills in generating high-quality 3D assets optimized for target platforms.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.


Advantageous Skills

  • Experience with shader programming and material authoring in Unity or Blender.

  • Experience with animation packages and animating rigged characters.

  • Knowledge of VR-specific asset optimization techniques for multi-platform.

  • Experience with Simplygon or other content optimization tools.

  • Understanding of lighting and rendering techniques.

  • Previous experience with VR development.

  • Experience with source control systems and Agile development methodologies
